English Competition Bring Our Spirit Back
Two weeks ago, Miss Sausan give us an announcement about English
competition. Student of Biotechnology that only consists of 15 persons are
divided in small groups as in previous competitions where each group consisting
of 2 people. Because we were an odd number, so one of us should to fight alone.
On Friday, Juny 27 th 2014 in the mess Pantodaeng, We must present
the movie posters that we choose as assessment for speaking. We gathered in the
mess at 08.00 AM. When I got there, I saw other friends who are so busy and
very seriously preparing for their presentation. There are some friends also
looks a little tense and I was a little nervous, because all this really feels
like a big competition. Finally, presentation begins at 08.35 AM, starting from
Fahmi who should fight alone for presented a movie poster “Kimi ni Todoke”
which means reaching you. Kimi ni Todoke is a Japanese romance movie.
Previously, I've ever watched this movie, I like the story and also the
character of Sawako and Kazehaya as the main character in this movie. Fahmi
tells the synopsis of this movie with full of expression. Of course, it showed
his admiration of this movie. At the time of the question and answer session
was opened, with our enthusiastic, some of us raised our hand to ask. At that
moment I felt our spirit back.
Furthermore, group 2 present
their choice movie titled “3 Idiots”. A Indian comedy and romance movie is
already attached in our memory because we have a lot of important lessons from
the story. Finally it was time Azhar and I give our best performance to
present the movie poster titled “Wreck It Ralph”, a cartoon movie that telling
about the life in the video game world. Because our friends have never watched
this movie so many of them do not get the gist of this movie. Initially, I was
not very interested in this movie, but after watching it, I got the value and
lessons that can be drawn from journey of Ralph as the main character in this
movie. So, we recommend my friends to watch this movie so that they can better
understand the story. Next, group 3 Cindy and Nugrah with movie poster “One
Piece”, the famous Japanese anime about the life of a pirate. I've watched this
movie since junior high school and I know the reason why they chose this movie.
Furthermore, Group 4 describes a movie poster called “Up”. When explaining,
Cendra had said "no oh yes" by his expression that made us laugh,
whereas Un give some motivation with her enthusiasm. Group 5 chose the
movie poster “5 cm” and I give thumb on Asma and Ryan because they are the only
group who chose Indonesian movie. Group 6 describes the movie “Sword Art Online
anime”, I applaud to Abdhi because he should explain without his partner,
because Gita is not present. Based on my observation who have most spirit of
the day was Abdhi. Finally, the last group is Arief and Indah. They explains
the movie titled “Hello Ghost”, korean comedy movie that the story is very
touching my heart. At that time, I asked a question and I really didn't expect
where Arif will give answers that make me want to say "You're too strong
man, comrade". Every movie has a message and the value of life that can be
taken by any spectators.
After we had prayers and lunch, we continue our struggle in the next
session that is listening. One by one we heard a conversation and answer a few
questions from Miss Sausan. I did not clearly hear the conversations and the
results I didn’t get the gist of the conversation hehe. This moment is tense
condition, there are some who answer correctly and some are not. Then the
second phase of our listening is listening together while watching a few videos
and then answer some questions on a sheet of paper. Series of events this
competition made me realize a lot of things and re-establish the spirit to
continue to learn and to improve my English skills because it is very
important.
